Information for referring clinicians

Dr. Coon evaluates musculoskeletal concerns involving the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand, hip, knee, and ankle and foot. Evaluation across these regions includes joint, muscle, tendon, ligament, and peripheral nerve concerns.

We generally begin with one main concern or region. When symptoms involve several areas, the evaluation can expand to understand how they fit together.

Dr. Coon does not currently treat spinal conditions. Spine-related concerns are directed to an appropriate spine specialist.

An evaluation can address a region of concern, a symptom pattern, an examination finding, or a question about the next diagnostic or treatment step.

Dr. Coon aims to support the care a patient already receives through musculoskeletal evaluation and, when appropriate, discussion of additional treatment options. An evaluation does not transfer responsibility for the patient's ongoing care.

Therapeutic options may include rehabilitation, further testing, monitoring with reassessment or another clinician’s assessment. Procedural options are considered in the context of the diagnosis, alternatives and patient goals.

Patients receive a brief portal summary of the evaluation findings and plan, which they can share with their physical therapist.
